The world is experiencing the third wave of the global pandemic, Covid-19. The pandemic has taught all of us how important asset health is and it is however necessary to acknowledge that in addition to COVID, there exist several other health hazards that one needs to look out for.

02/5 Hypertension and heart disease

Hypertension is a lifestyle disease that affects nearly thirty percent of our population and is characterized by a constant high flow of blood in the arteries that puts pressure upon them and eventually leads to reduced elasticity. This in turn thwarts the proper transportation of oxygen and blood to the heart. This can lead to heart diseases and hypertension has been found to be one of the leading causes of cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular diseases in themselves have been found to be one of the most worrisome health conditions that are associated with high mortality rates.

03/5 Lifestyle changes

It is therefore important that we look into both these conditions and find out ways to combat them. Even though there is no prescribed manual that can help manifest a longer life but there are certain lifestyle changes that are capable of changing our lives for the better by mitigating the side effects of these conditions. A healthy diet and a regular workout regime are the most widely preached solutions towards achieving a better lifestyle but it is easier said than done. We bring to you a simple and minor lifestyle change that can contribute greatly towards fighting these two conditions.

04/5 Black tea

Studies have shown that consuming three cups of this warm drink in a day can help reduce blood pressure significantly. Since it helps hypertension, it is also effective in controlling heart diseases. Black tea also contains flavonoids, which help reduce risk of heart conditions and contribute to heart health by helping blood circulate freely in the arteries. Flavonoids also reduce inflammation, which is a leading cause of poor heart health.

05/5 Quantity and frequency

Even though consuming three to four cups of black tea in a day has shown to have beneficial effects vis-à-vis the heart and hypertension, it is important not to go overboard with its consumption. Too much consumption of black tea can lead to side effects such as insomnia because of the caffeine that is present in it. Caffeine stimulates the nervous system and excessive consumption can lead to anxiety, headache and dizziness to name a few. It is therefore imperative for you to monitor the quantity and frequency for optimum effects.
