Jake Wood, 49, is an English actor, known for his role as Max Branning on the BBC soap EastEnders. Since leaving the iconic show, he has taken several roles on the West End and in theatre productions. Today, he joined Good Morning Britain to speak about his Christmas pantomime and the presenters were keen to discuss his fitness regime following impressive photos he had uploaded of himself on his Instagram account. 

Jake was initially teased for his visible six pack and pictorial muscles and he replied: “Four pack!

"I’ve always kept fit, fitness has always been how I’ve unwind.”

In terms of his diet, Jake said he is teetotal: “I don’t drink or smoke. I guess that’s how I unwind. 

“During lockdown I started to post more - and mainly that was about getting out and going for walks, not what level of fitness you have.”

When asked how often he exercises a week, and whether it’s a daily thing, Jake revealed: “I will go out everyday. 

“We’ve got dogs and chickens, I’m busy, so I will go out everyday.” 

Jake said he would share his exercise regime as it is something he has been doing for a long time, but he does “encourage people to get out”. 

“A walk is fine, just get out,” he added. “10 minutes walking, it’s just the getting outside that counts.” 

Jake has shared some of the workouts he does on his social media accounts. 

In a recent post, he commented on his physical success: “Commitment, consistency hard work = results. No excuses, get it done.” 

The actor is also a keen cyclist - both indoor and out on the road. 

Another video showed him on a spin bike inside, and he said he was “always working” and cycled for “one hour intervals”. 

Jake also likes to run - again in the gym on a treadmill or outside in nature. 

He claims: “Physical wellbeing = mental wellbeing.”

When he’s not in the gym, running or cycling, Jake likes to walk his dogs in the countryside. 

During one video, Jake explained: “Hey guys, how are you all? I’ve not done one of these recorded messages for a little while. 

“Hope you’re all doing good, in good health, staying positive, fit and healthy. 

“[I’m] still managing to get out, doing a little dog walk today, stretching my legs… staying fit, staying healthy, still training, trying to eat clean, just staying positive really.” 

He also shared “a little Sunday workout” for his followers: 

30 mins bike followed by -

10 x squats into curls into shoulder press

10 x shoulder raises

10 x tricep raises

15 x exercise ball press ups

50 x exercise ball sit ups

One minute exercise ball plank

These exercises were repeated three times.
