Open enrollment begins November 1 on Connect for Health Colorado, the state’s health insurance exchange, and people will be able to choose from a variety of plans that will be effective on January 1. Last year, a plan that included UCHealth was removed from the exchange, leaving some patients with no in-network options. Over the past year, UCHealth has worked with hundreds of individuals to receive approval from their health insurance plan to continue seeing their UCHealth and CU Medicine providers.
Individuals in most metro Denver counties will be able to choose from two plans on the exchange for the 2022 plan year that include UCHealth and CU Medicine:
- A new plan called Oscar Colorado Partners Choice will be available on the exchange with a start date of January 1. This plan will include UCHealth, CU Medicine, and other affiliates in-network.
- The original Anthem Pathway plan, which was removed for 2021, is being added back to the exchange. The plan will be available during open enrollment with a start date of January 1, and will include UCHealth, CU Medicine and other affiliates in-network.
“Connect for Health Colorado allows individuals to search for their physician or health care location to ensure the plan they choose includes the provider and location in-network,” said Dr. Peg Reidy, UCHealth chief medical officer. “We believe patients should have a choice in where they receive their care and should be able to continue seeing their trusted medical team. With these new options on the exchange, patients will be able to make this important choice.”
Open enrollment runs from November 1 to January 15, and plans have effective dates of January 1 or later. Premium subsidies may also be available based on an individual’s or family’s income level. Individuals may also compare different plans and benefit levels to determine the best option for them. Most other regions of Colorado already include plans on the exchange that include UCHealth in-network.
