Walk next month will celebrate people recovering from addiction and remember lives lost - Post-Crescent

APPLETON - The Fox Cities Recovery Celebration and Memorial Walk will be held next month to celebrate people in recovery from drug addiction and remember those who have lost their lives.

The event will begin at 4 p.m. Sept. 12 at City Park in Appleton. Memorial signs will be displayed all around the park, with stories about people who have lost their lives to drug addiction. This is the third year the event has been held.

The cost to participate is $15 for adults and $10 for children, which covers the cost of T-shirts given to participants. The deadline to sign up to guarantee a T-shirt is Aug. 25. Register at megankelleyfoundation.org/fcrecoveryandmemorialwalk.

The event will coincide with the Fox Cities Lights of Hope, which will take place immediately after the walk and feature speakers, including Tom Farley, the older brother of late actor and comedian Chris Farley, as well as a candlelight vigil and a display of quilts with the faces of hundreds of Wisconsin residents affected by addiction.
