02/7 The turning point

The morning of October 1, 2020, I found out that I weighed 90kgs and decided to do something about it. To top it off, COVID-19 was wreaking a lot of havoc in and around the world. During the first coronavirus wave, the severity and morality rates were extremely high among obese patients, which is why I was determined to lose weight and eliminate atleast one of the risk factors.

04/7 Workout regime followed

I indulged in 90 minutes of brisk walking.

Fitness secrets I unveiled: I discovered that the more you exercise, the better you sleep.

How do I stay motivated?: There are many things that have contributed to the success of my weight loss journey. Fitness apps, weighing scales and regular motivation by my husband is what keeps me going.

05/7 How do you ensure you don’t lose focus?

As difficult as it is to start a weight loss journey, it is as difficult to maintain it for a long time. So, what I do to keep myself motivated and focused is keeping a tab of my weight and tracking it every single day without fail. This helps me see through my progress.

06/7 What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?

For me, the most difficult and discomforting part of being overweight is that you never find clothes of your liking in your size.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line?: I want to look 20 years old and feel younger! But seriously? I just want to be healthy and free from all kinds of lifestyle diseases.

07/7 What are the lifestyle changes you made?

I have chosen an active lifestyle. I never starve myself, have frequent small meals and ensure an intake of 3 to 4 litres of water daily.

What was the lowest point for you?: After losing 12 kgs I reached a plateau, but could get around it by making a few changes in my diet.

Lessons learnt from weight loss: First things first, I realised willpower is everything. Secondly, I learnt that nothing is impossible and last but not the least, there is nothing you cannot do without the support of family and friends.
